Subject: Re: VRML File in SolidWorks

Hi. I have been using solid works to export vrml. SolidWorks can also import VRML geometry. Solidworks won't import any complex vrml files (inline, protos, etc). Only simple geometry file can be imported (I am not even sure that typical Box/cylinder/cone vrml primitives are recognized). Once imported, the geometry is almost unusable from a CAD user perspective. e.g. if you import a cube, edges vertex and faces are not defined (and cannot be selected as features like in a solid model), reference geometry such as cylinder, axis are not defined either (you basically have a dumb geometry). So, working in CAD on imported geometry requires some effort.

If you provide me with a sample file, i can try to load it and tell you about the result. PM me if you wish to do so.

Dan
